Full speed ahead for Danish exports of know-how
24-07-2008
Economy:
The Danish consultancy business has acquired a taste for international markets. Exports of know-how rounded EUR 3.5 billion in 2007, up by 35 per cent since 2004. Today, some 20 per cent of Danish consultancies' turnover comes from exports.
The figures have been compiled by the Confederation of Danish Industry's association for consultants, DI Videnrådgiverne, which is made up of consulting engineers, IT consultants, market analysts, management consultants, HR consultants and communications consultants.
Last year, turnover on consultancy services totalled approximately EUR 17.5 billion, an increase of 7.2 per cent compared with the previous year. Approximately one-third of the growth stems from increased exports.
"Consultants are increasingly generating turnover outside Denmark's borders. This shows that Danish consultants are fully capable of competing with international consultants to provide delivery of services of high quality," says DK Videnrådgiverne consultant Kirsten Alkjærsig.
According to Danish Industries, the consultancy sector is Denmark's third largest business sector.
